The SAVE Act would disenfranchise millions of eligible voters by requiring everyone to present--in person--a birth certificate or passport to register.

This bill is both unnecessary and harmful. Unnecessary because federal law already requires that voters verify their identity and US citizenship when they register. Harmful because millions of Americans do not have easy access to proof of citizenship documents or their documents are outdated due to a name change or gender identify update.

The lack of access to necessary identification would disproportionately impact deployed military members, trans and non-binary people, tribal citizens, working-class Americans, young people, students, married people who have changed their name (i.e., 69 million women), and minorities.

We need every Democratic Representative to vote NO to ensure that every Democratic Senator votes NO to make the vote filibuster proof.
